Jessica Babb joined CBS 21 as an investigative reporter in January 2022. She comes to Pennsylvania with years of experience, a passion for storytelling, and a goal of advocating for the community.
Before joining CBS 21, she worked as a reporter and fill-in anchor at NBC 2 in Fort Myers, Florida where she covered everything from crime and politics to extreme weather events, including hurricanes, and environmental stories. She helped lead the newsroom in COVID-19 coverage, interviewing lawmakers, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and hospital officials. As Florida was hit hard with large case surges, a rocky vaccine rollout, and issues with transparency when it came to releasing COVID-19 related data, Jessica pushed for accountability and answers. Her reporting had a direct impact on her local community, helping individuals get vaccinated and providing them with pertinent information to stay safe.
Previously, Jessica was as a weekend anchor and reporter for KEZI 9 News in Eugene, Oregon where she covered a wide range of stories, including a deadly officer-involved shooting at a middle school, which gained national attention, a historic snowstorm that caused widespread damage, and the homeless crisis in Western Oregon. She has also covered other big events in TrackTown USA like the Eugene Marathon.
Jessica graduated from Baylor University in Waco, Texas in 2017, where she was the broadcast managing editor for the Baylor Lariat. During her time there, she covered the Twin Peaks trial, the 2016 Presidential election, the inaugural Women’s March in Washington D.C., and the Baylor sexual assault scandal. As part of her coverage of the Baylor scandal, Jessica won awards from the Houston Press Club and the Lone Star Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
Jessica is a proud Texan, who loves good barbecue and Tex-Mex (bring on the queso!), but has fallen in love with Oregon, Florida, and now Pennsylvania. She's loved exploring the mountains, beaches and beautiful landscapes, along with meeting people in every corner of the country. Jessica moved to Pennsylvania with her husband and her cat named Ollie! When she isn’t reporting you can find her enjoying the outdoors, cooking, writing, and playing with Ollie - who loves daily walks outside, beach time, and lizard-chasing adventures.
