First inclusive Motorsports playground opening at Pocono Raceway

There's a brand new playground in Monroe County at the Pocono Raceway.

Members of the raceway family had a dedication ceremony Wednesday.

Broadway actor Christopher Jackson and NASCAR Champ Jimmy Johnson were on hand to open the first inclusive Motorsports playground inside the infield.

"To see this track think of their community and their fans as they always do makes me smile and give some an extra reason to smile on race weekend," 7-time NASCAR Champion Jimmy Johnson said.

The soft-play area is now one of the top 100 playgrounds in the country.

"A playground is just a place where everybody can come and congregate an d a community can come and play together and just taking the extra step and making an inclusive playground it doesn't leave anybody out. One in five people in the United States is inflicted with a disability so why leave those people out of a possible good time," said Nick Igdalsky, Pocono Raceway CEO.

The new playground will be open for public use when the Gate One tunnel is operational and the raceway is not being used.
