October is National Fire Prevention month.

Kint Fire Protection would like to give you and your family a few reminders on how to keep safe and secure.

1. Do not leave burning candles unattended

2. Have smoke detectors and fire extinguishers in your home

3.Inspect your smoke detectors and fire extinguishers each and every month

4.Train your family on what to do in the event of a fire (have a family plan in place)

5. Have your heating system serviced regularly including chimneys and wood / coal burning stoves

6.Remove lint from your dryer vent after each use, clean or replace your dryer hose frequently and do not let your dryer run when not at home or when asleep

7.Be sure to properly extinguish smoking or smoldering materials. It could take days for a smoldering fire to ignite into a fire

8.Avoid using outlet extenders as they can quickly overload an electrical circuit

Keep your family safe this month and every month with Kint Fire Protection.

Kint Fire Protection also has some good reminders for your place of business.

1. Perform fire drills periodically

2.Have an emergency evacuation plan with a safe gathering point away from the building

3.Have an organized and clean work place

4.Do not block exits or your life safety equipment such as fire extinguishers, fire alarm pull stations, etc.

5.Have a properly working fire alarm system. Early detection is key to identifying fires thus providing greater success in extinguishing while fires are in the incipient stage

6.Periodic routine maintenance of all life safety equipment
