The holidays are the best time of year for family, friends, festivities, and of coursefood. If you’re hosting the celebration this season, you want to be prepared with some top-notch recipes that will please everyone in the room.

Cooking for a crowd doesn’t have to be difficult, and The Butcher Shoppe is here to help you every step of the way. As a family business that has been passed down for generations, they know something about food! Their recipes (below) will bring rave reviews at every stage of the dinner party.

For the appetizer. There are plenty of ways to make the pre-game simple and stress-free! Whip up a few dip selections like an artichoke or creamy shrimp dip. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous and have a pot and stove to keep it warm, try an asiago and fontina cheese fondue. You can serve all of these dishes with bread cubes, chips, veggies, apples—the possibilities are endless.

For the first course. If you are hosting a sit-down meal, the first course is a necessity. Soups or salads are perfect choices to indulge your guests, but still keep them hungry and looking forward to the main event. Consider a butternut squash soup or watermelon, cucumber, and mint tzatziki salad.

For the main course. This is the big shebang, so you want to make an impression! Meat and seafood are simple, yet superb choices for the main course. If you go with the tzatziki salad for a starter dish, lamb with a lemon or citrus mint marinade pairs fantastically. Or, consider broiled scallops or salmon—especially if you have some vegetarians in the room.

For the side dish. Roasted veggies have recently become popular, and it’s pretty clear why. They’re simple, they can be seasoned in countless ways, and when they’re cooked to a slight crisp, the results are absolutely delectable! Try making some crispy oven baked broccolini, or spruce up some brussels sprouts with almond and bacon.

For dessert. Who says you can’t have breakfast for dessert? Serve a saucer of pumpkin latte pancake syrup over some homemade flapjacks to compliment the cup of coffee many will be sipping later in the evening. Or, dish up some baked apple pudding for a fun and mouth-watering rendition on the standard apple pie.

For all of these dishes, you want to make sure that you’re buying high-quality and reliable ingredients. Stop by The Butcher Shoppe for a freshly-cut meat and seafood selection, and a grocery department with produce and cheeses that will complete all of your recipes.
