SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) - Ever wonder where all your money went?

A couple of University of Utah football fans learned their hard-earned dough — $1,060 of it — was destroyed in their shredder, courtesy of their 2-year-old.

According to Twitter user @Benbelnap, he and his wife had been saving up to pay for University of Utah football tickets in cash. As they pulled out their money, the cash was mysteriously gone. That mystery was solved when they eventually found the envelope, and the cash, in the shredder.

"Yup. 2 year old shredded $1,060," Benbelnap tweeted.

The Twitter community got involved with suggestions that the couple get out some tape and another person stating that mutilated currency can be redeemed by the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing.

He joked that his son, tall for his age, is grounded from all fun. He also said there is a possibility the Treasury Department will recover some or all of the destroyed money amid several calls for a GoFundMe page.
