WANTED | Man accused of buying more than $25K in merchandise with bad checks

State police are searching for Timothy August, who they say used bad checks at stores across several counties in our area.

Pennsylvania State Police are looking for Timothy August. He's accused of passing bad checks at various stores in the area.

Officials say August started buying chainsaws and leaf blowers in November 2017 using bad checks.

He's accused of then selling them for cash. Police say August hit at least 17 local hardware stores.

Officials say in December, August bought gift cards at Weis Markets in Lackawanna, Luzerne, and Wayne Counties with bad checks.

August is accused of hitting the stores more than 50 times with bad checks. Police say he purchased more than $25,000 in merchandise and gift cards with the bad checks since the beginning of November.

A warrant has now been issued for August's arrest.

He was last seen to be in Bethlehem. Officials say he drives a black Ford F-250 pickup truck with a quad cab. The Pennsylvania license plate is ZJL1941.
