Two dead after SUV collides with tow-truck on I-81

Police investigate fatal Ephrata car accident

Two people died in crash on I-81 near Carlisle.

The crash happened around 5:45 PM near mile marker 47.5 on I-81 southbound when a SUV hit the back of a tow-truck. The SUV was traveling southbound in the right lane when the tow truck merged into the lane from the side of the road.

The SUV unable to stop in time hit the back of tow truck bringing both vehicle to a stop.

The driver of the SUV, 67-year-old David J. Ewaka, was taken to the hospital and remains in critical condition.

The passengers of the SUV, identified as 75-year-old Lillian Ewaka, and 77-year-old Edna Ewaka were pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver of the tow truck was uninjured.

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the accident no charges have been filed at this time.
