Threat of "biggest mass shooting in history" at PSU stadium under investigation
STATE COLLEGE (WOLF) —
A federal investigation is underway at Penn State after a threat was posted on social media Thursday afternoon.
The threat was aimed to harm thousands of fans at Beaver Stadium.
Penn State Police have confirmed that the FBI is now involved.
Here's a look at the message:
"I've decided that I'm going to commit the biggest mass shooting in the history of the world, killing thousands of fans in Beaver Stadium during one of the games next year."
The tweet also tagged state college police in the message and included a vulgar hashtag referencing to Penn State.
The twitter handle that posted the threat has since been deleted.
However, an account called PSU Recruiting was able to grab a screenshot of the tweet before it was deleted.
The PSU Recruiting twitter handle does not appear to be affiliated directly with the university, but rather a third party account that tweets about Penn State Athletic news.
Penn State Police posted on social media Thursday night that they do not believe there is any immediate threat to the Penn State or State College community.
But they do take all threats very seriously and are asking if you know any information, or see something suspicious, to call police.
