Police have arrested a Lancaster man after investigators were able to connect him to a string of thefts from vehicles in Manheim and Lancaster Townships.

De’amija De’amonte Robertson, 18, was identified as a suspect in the thefts after police found a cell phone left at one of the crime scenes.

The phone was traced back to Robertson and police obtained a search warrant for his home. They found a pair of shoes whose tread patterns matched shoe prints left at several of the crime scenes. Robertson was interviewed and admitted to breaking into multiple vehicles, according to police.

Manheim Township Police had been investigating a series of thefts from vehicles that occurred between January 10, 2018 and February 5, 2018.

Robertson was charged with 43 counts of theft from a motor vehicle. Only two of the vehicles that Robertson broke into were locked.

Police encourage the public to lock their cars in order to deter break-ins and robberies.
