Members of the state House of Representatives received a letter from Xerox, the document company currently serving the House, asking them to request transparency from the House Chief Clerk regarding his decision to cut off business with the company.
Xerox provides the State House with copiers, along with two full-time Xerox employees, to handle any kind of copier issues, like paper jams.
The House is now terminating their contract with Xerox, with the hope of saving taxpayers millions of dollars.
The House's contract with Xerox spans over 20 years. It currently spends $263,000 a month with the company, according to a House official.
After looking at costs associated with just one of the House's 400 Xerox machines last Spring, House Chief Clerk David Reddecliff told CBS21 News he decided to take a closer look at the Xerox budget line.
