Local victim advocate praises Time magazine person of the year

Time Magazine Person of the Year

In the midst of new allegations of sexual assault, Time Magazine reveals its person of the year is the "Silence Breakers" - the women behind the #metoo movement on social media.

Time praised those who have given "voice to open secrets, for moving whisper networks onto social networks, for pushing us all to stop accepting the unacceptable."

Local advocates in our area are also praising Time's choice.

Jennifer Storm is a victim advocate for the Commonwealth of PA. She said, "I think it's incredibly validating for all those individuals who have been speaking up, who have unfortunately sat in silence and suffered in silence for far too long. To have that kind of recognition from Time magazine is unprecedented."

The magazine's cover features Ashley Judd, Taylor Swift, Susan Fowler, and others who say they've been harassed.

The two runners-up were President Donald Trump and China's president.
