Local police hand out sweet treats, not citations

CBS 21

The Southwestern Regional Police Department is cracking down on drivers in need of frozen treats.

CBS 21 rode along as officers handed out what they’re calling positive tickets.

“We’re not always looking for what you’re doing wrong, but also the good that you’re doing out there, Officer Holly Rowland said.

The tickets aren’t fines or citations for traffic violations, but rather vouchers for free ice cream at Papertown Dairy Bar & Restaurant.

The business teamed up with the department to spread some positive vibes in the community.

"It's important to the officers to know that they're well respected and accepted in the community," Officer Stuart Harrison said.
