Increase of AAA roadside assistance calls
If you've had a flat tire or your car battery die in the last few weeks, you're not alone.
Officials with AAA of Central Pennsylvania said they've seen an increase in roadside assistance calls.
Calls about dead batteries are up almost double the amount from an average day.
If you do come across a problem, officials say find somewhere warm to go while you wait for help.
"Just keep in mind we are trying to get to as many people as possible. We have a lot of contractors in the area, plus we have a large fleet that are out there. We call in extra guys to come in on their days off once the call level increases," said Doni Lee Spiegel, Central Pennsylvania's AAA public relations manager.
In 2018 AAA of Central Pennsylvania responded to an average of 400 roadside service calls a day. In the winter that number can easily double.
Officials recommend getting your battery tested if it's a couple years old to decrease the chances of it dying in the cold.
