Update: Food truck explosion reported in East Hempfield Township

Police and fire crews are still on scene of a food truck explosion that happened near the Comfort Inn in East Hempfield Township, Lancaster County.

Crews were called to the scene around 12:25 pm Sunday afternoon, after an employee of the hotel saw the fire.

Two people, a father and son, were working in or around the truck when it exploded. They were taken to Lancaster General Hospital, and are scheduled to be airlifted to Chester County.

The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.

Champs Boulevard will remain closed to the general public for the time being. Guests of the Comfort Inn will be allowed to enter and exit the hotel.

There was no damage to the hotel.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
