Man wielding a knife shot, killed by police officer in Lancaster; officer on leave

UPDATE: In a statement from Lancaster Mayor Danene Sorace, the officer involved in Sunday afternoon's shooting has been placed on leave.

UPDATE: The Lancaster County District Attorney's Office has identified 27-year-old Ricardo Munoz as the victim of Sunday afternoon's shooting.

According to police, Munoz was armed with a knife. From the preliminary investigation, which included reviewing footage from the firing officer's body camera, the District Attorney's Office says Munoz ran towards the officer, brandished a knife above his head in a threatening manner, and the officer fired the gun. No one else was struck by gunfire.

The incident remains under investigation. After the investigation, District Attorney Heather Adams will determine if the use of force was justified.

UPDATE: According to a statement, police responded to a home on the 300-block of Laurel Street for a report of a domestic disturbance around 4:15 p.m. Officers arrived on the scene a few moments later.

One man is dead after he was shot by a police officer. The man was reportedly armed with a knife at the time of the shooting, according to officials.

The Lancaster County District Attorney's Office is investigating.
