Cumberland County District Attorney appointed by President Trump as U.S. Attorney
The Cumberland County District Attorney is moving on up, getting an appointment from President Donald Trump.
Dave Freed is becoming the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. The President announced his appointment, along with eight other U.S. Attorneys on Friday.
Freed has spent the past 12 years as District Attorney of Cumberland County.
"I am incredibly honored," said Freed. "The US Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania is really well known across the country for their great work and I am excited for the opportunity to lead it."
Before taking the position Freed will have to be confirmed by the United States Senate. Once that happens he will only have a short time to make the transition to his new position. Judges in Cumberland County will appoint an interim DA.
