Classes dismissed early after bullet found in school

An eastern Pennsylvania middle school dismissed classes early after a bullet was found inside the building.

The East Penn School District says state police were called to Eyer Middle School in Lower Macungie Township on Wednesday.

Officials say the building was placed on lockdown as of 8:40 a.m. Wednesday, and students were sent home at 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The district says the early dismissal was a precaution to state police and K9 units can thoroughly search the school.

The Lehigh County school's calendar says classes have been in session this week to make up for snow days.
