Champion runner visits Mechanicsburg

Rain didn't stop an Olympic silver medalist and Boston Marathon champion from stopping by the West Shore tonight.

Hundreds lined up to meet marathoner Meb Keflezighi at the Fleet Feet Running Store in Mechanicsburg.

Meb was supposed to run with 300 area runners, but lightning halted that plan.

He met with fans, gave advice, and signed autographs.

Meb said, "The friendship and the unity that we all share, you don't know what politics they believe, you don't know what financial situation they're in or what their account is but we have one thing in common: sportsmanship. And the journey of one mile all the way to the marathon."

Meb was the first American to win the Boston Marathon in 31 years back in 2014.

He plans to run his last competitive race this November in the New York City Marathon.
