A car was hit by a train on York Avenue in Luzerne County Tuesday just before 11:30 a.m with a 3-year-old boy still inside.

Chief of Avoca Police Dave Homeschek says the woman driving didn't see the train coming as she drove onto two sets of train tracks.

The railroad crossing gates then went down, trapping the car in between with the driver, another woman, and a 3-year-old boy inside.

The two adults were able to escape but the boy was stuck in his car seat.

Police say after the collision, there were no injuries.

All crews left the scene around 12:15 p.m.

Chief Homeschek says this is still an ongoing investigation.
