The unemployment rate across the nation and Pennsylvania has been very low.
The U.S. unemployment rate is at 4.1% while Pennsylvania’s jobless rate is 4.8%.
But despite this good news, there are some issues for many employers in the state finding qualified workers.
Kevin shivers is the Pennsylvania Executive State Director of the National Federation of Independent Business.
He says there is a shrinking pool of workers for small businesses to choose from.
Shivers says the state's population is not growing as strong as the rest of the country. He also says Pennsylvania is losing people to other states.
The census bureau figures say Pennsylvania lost 26,000 people to other states in a one year period ending July 1st of 2017.
That was not as bad as the jail break that New York state saw of a 191,000 loss.
But then again Florida gained 161,000 people.
Yeah, it's warmer down there.
Shivers says part of the reason to blame for the exodus in p-a has been the policy decisions in recent years.
I checked wallet hub to find the states with the highest tax burden, Pennsylvania ranks 24th-middle of the road.
States that voted democrat in the last presidential election have a higher tax burden than states that voted republican in 2016.
