Find Endless Adventure in the Pennsylvania Great Outdoors Region

The Pennsylvania Great Outdoors Visitors Bureau represents Jefferson, Elk, Clarion, Forest, and Cameron Counties in northwestern Pennsylvania, and it’s home to a wide range of fantastic vacation attractions perfect for couple, families, or friends. With more than a million acres of woodland here and some of the darkest skies on the East Coast, it’s a relaxing destination where you really can get away from it all.

Roughly 1,000 wild elk roam freely through Elk Country, and you can see them in the mountains and valleys here throughout the year. Nearby, the old-growth woods of Cook Forest State Park and its surrounding attractions bring many families back year after year to hike under the tallest trees in the northeastern United States, bottle-feed fawns, climb house-sized boulders, and much more. The Allegheny National Forest as well as the National Wild and Scenic River System's Clarion and Allegheny Rivers here also offer top-notch outdoor recreation opportunities.

Each small town here offers unique charm, and you can enjoy special events such as Punxsutawney’s Groundhog Day, Ridgway’s Chainsaw Carvers Rendezvous, Clarion’s Autumn Leaf Festival, and others. You can also find intriguing history in each county along with unforgettable wineries, breweries, distilleries, and restaurants.

Whether you hike, bike, paddle, fish, hunt, geocache, watch wildlife, or ride horses, ATVs, or snowmobiles, come to the Pennsylvania Great Outdoors and find your endless adventure.
