Women at Work | Maddie Young climbs to the top of Big Brothers Big Sisters
Her love for helping others landed her a job with the number one mentoring agency in the nation.
Her dedication to her job took her to the top!
Maddie Young is the CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the capitol region.
Maddie Young recalls the day she began working for Big Brothers Big Sisters.
It was 18-years ago, Maddie started part time as a case manager.
Today, she's the President and CEO.
"I connected so deeply with this mission because i saw myself in the face of some of those kids,” says Young.
As a child, Maddie says, she struggled in school and had some health issues.
"Because of that, school wasn't always my always my favorite place, so I was the kid that i think probably could have benefited from a mentor just because I had a lot of stuff going on in my life i was trying to find my place and find out how to fit in."
Today Maddie not only "fits in" but many of her employees look up to her, like Cathy Watlington.
"I kind of look to her kind of as a mentor because I want to kind of be her when I grow up I think. Her confidence is kind of amazing,” says Watlington.
And so is her dedication to making sure local children and teens have a role-model they can develop a positive relationship with. One that will last a life time.
“Don't say no to opportunity. Always look someone in the eye with a smile and shake their hand and hear their story,” says Young.
