Women at Work | Celebrating 50 years on the job
Carol Lyter is known around the office for her cheerful and positive personality -- and that's a reputation she's kept since 1968, when she first got the job!
Lyter has been taking calls at Metzger Wickersham since 1968.
"When I think about it that's a long time. 50 years is a long time to be working at one place. I understand that, but I like it here," she says.
She started as the firm's legal secretary now she's in charge of book keeping.
"When she first started 50 years ago, I think she used an electric typewriter and carbon paper to make copies," says Edward Knauss, Attorney
At 19-years-old Carol was hired on the spot.
She remembers her interview as if it were yesterday.
"She is certainly as energetic and hard-working and industrious as she was when she first started," he says.
Carol is a big Hershey bears fan.
She and her husband Richard have been season ticket holders for 30-years, and perhaps the couple will have more time to enjoy near the ice soon.
"Do you plan on retiring? Yes I do. yeah I do. When? I don't know exactly when yet, but it's not gonna be too long. I think 50 years is enough."
She's looking back on a 50-year career.. and looking forward to another "50" with her husband.
The two will celebrate their "golden wedding anniversary" next month.
