Bishop McDevitt lacrosse team supports Orange4Owen

-- Since April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month, a local foundation is helping spread the word on how dangerous distracted driving can be.

On Wednesday night, players on the McDevitt lacrosse team wore orange to support the Orange4Owen Foundation.

The organization was created after eight-year-old Owen was hit and killed by a distracted driver in front of Bishop McDevitt High School in 2011.

During the event, the importance of safe driving was stressed for not only drivers, but passengers as well.

"Passengers definitely have a lot to do with the driving. If you're changing the music, maybe it gets too loud, the driver can't focus, maybe you're talking too much to the driver," Orange4Owen co-founder Makenna Brezitski said. "So being a good passenger, you're looking out for your driver."
