NWS: Tornado warning issued for York and Lancaster counties

UPDATE 2:45 P.M.: The National Weather Service in State College PA has issued a Tornado Warning for Northwestern Lancaster County and Southeastern Lebanon County until 330 PM EST.

At 243 PM EST, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Mount Joy, moving northeast at 40 mph.

This dangerous storm will be near

Manheim, Lititz, Mount Gretna Heights and Timber Hills around 250 PM EST.

Cornwall, Brickerville, Quentin, Lebanon South and Avon around 300 PM EST.

Myerstown, Kleinfeltersville, Schaefferstown, Newmanstown and Richland around 310 PM EST.

Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Penryn, Mount Gretna, Avon Heights, Schoeneck, Reinholds and Elizabethtown College.

This includes The Pennsylvania Turnpike from mile markers 261 to 281.

UPDATE 2:40 P.M.: The National Weather Service for Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Adams County and York County until 345 PM EST

At 236 PM EST, a severe thunderstorm was located near Littlestown, moving northeast at 50 mph.

HAZARD,60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.

IMPACT,Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include Parkville, Red Lion, Spry, Weigelstown, Dallastown, Hanover, York, Gettysburg, York Airport, Stonybrook-Wilshire, New Oxford, Lake Meade, Cross Roads, Valley Green, Glen Rock, East York, Hallam, Jacobus, Tyler Run-Queens Gate and Hampton.

UPDATE 2:35 P.M.: The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Schuylkill and Lebanon counties, until 4 p.m.

At 232 PM EST, a severe thunderstorm was located over Fredericksburg, moving northeast at 35 mph.

IMPACT,Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Locations impacted include Cornwall, Tamaqua, St. Clair, Pottsville, Myerstown, Schuylkill Haven, Minersville, Palmyra, Mahanoy City, Annville, Shenandoah, Frackville, Lebanon, Sheppton, Coaldale, Lawn, Orwigsburg, Richland, Cleona and Port Carbon.

UPDATE 2:20 P.M.: The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning for northwestern Lancaster County and central York County until 2:45 p.m.

At 220 PM EST, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over East York, moving northeast at 30 mph.

IMPACT,Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.

Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.

This dangerous storm will be near,

Valley View around 230 PM EST.

Columbia, Mount Joy, Maytown, Wrightsville, Marietta, Rheems, Salunga-Landisville and Mountville around 240 PM EST.

Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include Washington Boro, East Prospect, Franklin And Marshall College, Elizabethtown College, York College Of Pennsylvania, Penn State York and Lancaster Airport.

This includes the following Interstates, The Pennsylvania Turnpike from mile markers 265 to 268. Interstate 83 from mile markers 12 to 24.

UPDATE 2P.M.: The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Mount Joy, Manheim, Spry, Columbia, Dallastown, Ephrata, York, East Petersburg, Elizabethtown, Lititz, Akron, Red Lion, Weigelstown, Stonybrook-Wilshire, Salunga-Landisville, Bainbridge, East York, Rothsville, Hallam and Jacobus.

The warning is in effect until 2:45 p.m.

The NWS says that at 2:05 p.m. a severe thunderstorm was located over Tyler Run-Queens Gate, moving northeast at 40 mph. The storms could bring 60 mph wind gusts and penny sized hail.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Centre, Miffling, Juniata, Franklin, Tioga, Lycoming, Sullivan, Clinton, Union, Snyder, Montour, Northumberland, Columbia, Perry, Dauphin, Schuylkill, Lebanon, Cumberland, Adams, York and Lancaster counties.

The NWS says that there is a narrow line of thunderstorms forming along a strong cold front this morning that will last through the afternoon.

A few of the storms could produce brief, damaging west to southwest wind gusts of 60 mph, according to the NWS.

Gusty westerly winds up to 35 to 40 mph will likely continue for about 6-10 hours in the wake of the cold frontal passage, according to the NWS.

The NWS expects the hazardous weather to be contained to Saturday.
