Reported by: Ewa Roman (

Tonight a Harrisburg father is behind bars; charged in his young son's death.

We first brought you the story Friday night as breaking news and Saturday, CBS 21 has been working to gather even more details about the 8 year old boy's death.

Friday night when CBS 21 News arrived on scene, our cameras caught Harrisburg Police standing in front of a home at the 2100 block of Green Street. Police say they were called there around 8:30 p.m.

Their investigation revealed that at some point over the last several days, 8 year old Jarrod Tutko Junior, had died in the home.
Police say when the odor of decomposition became too strong the boys father, Jarrod Tutko Senior told his wife that their son was dead. She then called police.

Saturday, CBS 21 went back to that house to see if any of the family members would give us more insight into how this could've happened.
But no one answered the door. Tom Garrity lives nearby.

"I can't believe the woman is out, the mother is out. You can't tell me that she didn't know what was going on. You haven't seen your child in days and you're in the same house?Something is wrong," said Tom Garrity, neighbor.

The district attorney says the couple's five other children were placed in custody of Dauphin County.

"I've only seen one child out with the father a few times," said Garrity.

Jarrod Tutko Senior faces child endangerment, concealing the death of a child and abuse of a corpse charges. He's in Dauphin County prison. His bail is set at 500-thousand dollars. His wife has not been charged. An autopsy possibly scheduled for Monday will reveal how the boy died.
