York Area Regional Police are investigating after two people were found dead in a York Township home, after a standoff.

Police were called to the home on South Franklin Street around 11: 30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Police say a man inside the home fired shots at police, who then returned fire. Around 4 a.m. on Wednesday, the York County Quick Response Team entered the home and found the man and woman dead from gun shot wounds. The York County Coroner identified the woman as 24-year-old Jessica Mellinger. Officials say Mellinger died from a gunshot wound to the chest. The man was identified as John R. Snyder, 24. The Coroner says he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

The man allegedly shot woman and then turned the gun on himself, police tell us.

Police say there were other people in the home at the time of the shooting, but they were not injured.
