Car in the river in Columbia

According to West Hempfield Township Police, the body of a black male in his mid 20's was found in a car in the Susquehanna River Sunday morning.  Police say the man is from York City.

The car in the river was a Buick La Sabre. It was spotted by a fisherman around 9:45 Sunday morning.

At this time, the cause of death is unknown.  The Lancaster County Coroner's office will conduct an autopsy Monday morning.

Police say that more details will be available tomorrow.


The Lancaster County Coroner's office is on the scene where a car was pulled out of the Susquehanna River.

The call came in around 9:45 a.m.  A car was seen in the river off Columbia River Park.

We will bring you more details as we get them.

Right now crews are recovering a car from the river in Columbia, Lancaster County.

A call came in around 9:45 Sunday morning that there was a car in the river about 50 feet from the dock at Columbia River Park.

Right now it is unknown whether anyone is inside the car.
