Lara Greenberg joined the CBS 21 News team in October 2014 as a reporter and became the weekend anchor in May 2016. Lara started her career in journalism in upstate New York. She graduated from Syracuse University in 2010 with a degree in broadcast journalism and minors in Spanish and music industry. While there, she studied abroad in Madrid, Spain and was part of the first class to complete a Fashion and Beauty Communications Milestone.
After school, she got her first on-air job at YNN, a 24-hour cable station based in Syracuse. She worked as a multimedia journalist or one-man-band reporter, shooting and editing her own video in the station's Corning, N.Y. bureau. In 2011, she was part of the YNN team that won a Syracuse Press Club Award for coverage of Tropical Storm Lee. In 2012, she made her way to Pennsylvania, working as a multimedia journalist for WNEP in Scranton. She was one of the first reporters to work out of the station's new Wyoming Valley Newsroom. At CBS 21 she has helped cover some of the area's biggest stories, including the charges filed against Attorney General Kathleen Kane and the riots in Baltimore. She also exclusively captured on video a man confessing to murder, helping to move the case along.
Over the years, Lara has become very involved with the Alzheimer's Association. In the last several years, she's raised more than $7,000 for the nonprofit, given speeches at several of its big fundraising events and was selected as a Volunteer of the Year in 2014 and the Marketing Chair for the 2015 Walk to End Alzheimer's in Harrisburg. In her spare time, Lara also enjoys running and blogging. She has run two half marathons and created a book blog, www.LarasBookClub.wordpress.com, where she posts book news and reviews.
Lara grew up in New Jersey and is proud to call herself a beach bum and Jersey girl. She now lives in Harrisburg with her fiancé, but visits her family and friends in New Jersey and New York often. Lara enjoys reading, blogging, traveling, shopping, running and baking. She'd love to hear your story ideas on Twitter @LaraCBS21 or Facebook, or send her an email firstname.lastname@example.org.
