Penn State wrestling, men's basketball teams get honored at State House
HARRISBURG, Pa. -- State Reps. Mike Hanna and Scott Conklin congratulated the Penn State men's basketball team and wrestling team for their championship titles on the House floor Tuesday.
Pat Chambers led the Nittany Lions to the NIT title this past season, capping the most successful season the program has had under Chambers.
"All of us in Centre County are so very proud of your accomplishment and thoroughly enjoyed the NIT run," said Hanna.
On the mat, the Nittany Lions completed a comeback for the ages to capture their third consecutive national title and their seventh in eight years under head coach Cael Sanderson.
"This team came back and fought back what many of us as Penn State (fans) considered overwhelming odds, especially for the national title, when they came back and fought from points back," said Conklin.
Both Chambers and Sanderson were in attendance along with several members of each title-winning team.
