Local terrorism task force explains how to protect yourself in the case of a mass shooting
In response to the mass shooting, local emergency officials say there are several things you can do to protect yourself.
CBS21 spoke with Duane Hagelgans, who serves on the local terrorism task force.
"You're going to try and run first, get away and if you can't, you're gonna hide and if you can't do that, you're gonna fight. I mean, this church looked pretty small, so I'm not thinking that people could get too far away. So, somebody's going to try to have to take the shooter on, if possible. It sounds terrible. You never want to tell somebody to risk their life for somebody else's life," he said.
We're told the South Central Pennsylvania Response team has conducted several vulnerability assessments of local faith based organizations in the past year.
