West Shore SD votes for feeder school concept for restructuring
It was a unanimous vote, 9 to 0, in favor of the feeder school concept this evening for the West Shore School District.
What this "feeder school concept" means is that the school district will be divided into four levels.
There will be seven elementary schools, two intermediate schools, two middle schools and the two high schools, Red Land and Cedar Cliff, will remain open and separate.
The project estimates are between $218-million and $246-million.
Currently in the early stages, this new system will be phased in over several years starting with the 2019-2020 school year.
Questions were raised about bonds and how much debt the district will incur and when.
The board did approve this option as a whole, the schools will not be consolidating but transformed into a feeder concept instead.
