Swatara Township Police host "Coffee with a Cop"

Coffee with a Cop

Swatara Township Police hosted "Coffee with a Cop" Thursday morning at a local McDonald’s to have casual and informative conversations with inquisitive and concerned members of the community that they serve.

Folks came out to share fresh brew and warm cookies with officers to voice their matters of interest, offer tips and gain insight into the daily lives of the men and women in blue who serve and protect their neighborhoods.

“I want to support the police,” says Marcellene Currens, a Swatara Township resident. “I want them to know that they have a fan club out there who is praying for them and their safety and being able to have a rapport with them.”

The officers also used the event as an opportunity to spread the word about their K9 fundraising campaign. The department is on a mission to raise $40K by the end of the year to secure a K9 cop to add to their police force. It would be the first K9 on their team in over a decade.

The Police Department is hosting t-shirts sales to raise money on Saturday, December 9th from 9 am-noon, and on Wednesday, December 13th from 6pm-9pm.

Swatara Township has also set up a GoFundMe page (https://www.gofundme.com/swatara-township-police-k9-unit) to collect donations towards their goal- money that will fund training and necessary supplies for the new K9 unit.
