Overnight fire causes $500K in damages, dentist office and one person displaced

Three buildings were damaged by a fire which broke out around 2 a.m. on Friday morning in Lebanon.

Officials say that there is an estimated $500,000 in damages, with two of the buildings a total loss.

The unoccupied homes at 422 and 424 Cumberland Street were damaged by fire in April and now officials believe that they are completely destroyed.

The other building, a dentist office and apartment, were heavily damaged according to officials.

"Everything. They said everything is destroyed," says Kathlenn Kopecky-Groh, owner of Kathleen Kopecky-Groh Family Dentistry. She says that her dental practice has seen thousands of patients over the past 27 years but after the fire her business is on hold.

"What am I going to do? What’s going to happen?"

One resident was home at the time of the fire but was able to get out safely.

A passing police officer noticed the flames.

"There was fire coming out of everything, everywhere. 424 seemed to be the center of it," says Duane Trautman, Lebanon Fire Commissioner.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.
