Officials: Twelve students released from hospital, two hospitalized with serious injuries

Officials: 14 students on Lancaster Mennonite school bus during crash taken to hospital

According to PennDOT, the rollover crash involving a Lancaster Mennonite school bus may have been caused by a hit-and-run driver.

The Lancaster County District Attorney's Office says police are seeking the driver of a light-colored, newer model sedan in relation to the crash.

The DA's Office says that the driver caused the crash by attempting to pass two tractor-trailers and their escort vehicles, driving east on Route 30.

The bus was driving west when the sedan veered back into the eastbound lane and hit the back of an escort vehicle, according to the District Attorney's office. The escort vehicle was pushed into the westbound lane and side-swiped the bus causing the bus to "yaw and impact on the tractor-trailer's load," according the District Attorney's Office. The bus then tipped to it's side, according to the District Attorney's Office.

The male driver continued eastbound, according to the DA's office.

Police are asking anyone with information about the accident to call 717.291.4676.
