Man gets life-sentence in roommate's stabbing, strangulation

Vandy Blankenship was convicted Tuesday afternoon of murdering 60-year-old Donald Reinmiller in a Lancaster apartment.

A 52-year-old Lancaster County man is going to prison for the rest of his life for fatally strangling and stabbing his roommate.

Prosecutors say Vandy Blankenship was convicted Tuesday afternoon of murdering 60-year-old Donald Reinmiller in a Lancaster apartment.

Reinmiller was stabbed or cut eight times. Blankenship denied killing Reinmiller. He says they were casual friends and that he went to the apartment by chance that day before finding Reinmiller on the floor in the kitchen.

Prosecutors say Blankenship lied about his relationship with Reinmiller, where he was during the killing and his actions before calling 911.

The 52-year-old man received a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole. Blankenship must also pay more than $2,500 in restitution and nearly $800 in expenses.

Blankenship declined to make a statement.
