Lancaster woman shot in head after alleged accidental shooting
Lancaster, Lancaster County -- Lancaster City police officers are investigating a shooting that sent one woman to the hospital in critical condition.
Investigators say it happened at around 11:01 p.m. Sunday in the 200 block of East Liberty Street.
When officers arrived, they found a 38-year-old woman inside the home with a gunshot wound to the head. She was treated at the scene and then taken to the hospital.
According to investigators, one of the 911 callers was a 25-year-old neighbor who told officers he accidentally fired his gun inside his home next door and it went through the wall, hitting the victim as she laid in bed.
Authorities say the neighbor who reported firing the shot has met with investigators and is cooperating with the investigation. No charges have been filed at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
