Friends of Midtown step up patrols in wake of recent crime
HARRISBURG, Pa. —
Friends of Midtown in Harrisburg are stepping up their patrols.
The group is walking the neighborhood to keep an eye out for anything that may be of concern.
"We walk around, talk to the neighbors, ask what's going on if they've seen anything. We look for things that need to be reported, vandalism, suspicious activity, lights that are out," Jack McGettigan said.
The group says interest has increased since the recent violence throughout Midtown, especially the murder of Steven Esworthy a few weeks ago.
A suspect was arrested in that crime, but the group says the community must remain vigilant.
Foot patrols run once every week.
