Court Docs: Father charged in death of infant son
A Carlisle man has been charged with the homicide of his four-year-old son, according to court records.
Brian Wagner, 30, was charged with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, and endangering the welfare of a child following the death of his son last summer.
According to the criminal affidavit, the Dauphin County Coroner's Office conducted an autopsy and determined the child died of traumatic brain and spinal cord injuries.
An independent analysis of the victim's autopsy report and medical records conducted at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center found that the injuries were caused by blunt force trauma, and possibly caused by violent shaking, according to the affidavit.
Court records state that the child was in Wagner's care on the morning of July 6,2017, when Wagner noticed his son wasn't breathing. According to the affidavit, he called 911, and the infant was taken via ambulance to Carlisle Regional Medical Center before being flown to Hershey Medical Center. The child was pronounced dead that afternoon.
The charges against Wagner were filed on February 13, 2018. He is currently held in Cumberland County Prison without bail.
