Cattle cause Sunday morning car accident
Harrisburg, PA —
On Sunday morning, just before 2 am, Ephrata Police responded to a vehicle accident on Frysville Rd at Newswanger Rd. in Ephrata Township.
A vehicle driven by a man from East Earl man struck three large cattle on the roadway during a period of heavy fog at night. A 22 year old female passenger from Greencastle PA was seriously injured in the accident.
Both the driver and passenger were taken to the hospital.
The injured cattle were dispatched at the scene.
The cattle were part of a larger herd of 150 head owned by an Ephrata man. They were loose earlier the previous evening approximately one mile from the vehicle accident.
Approximately 20 head remain on the loose. Police closed several roads in the area during the nighttime fog.
