Officials: Jewish Community Centers in Harrisburg, York evacuated after receiving threats

BREAKING: Jewish Community Center evacuated due to bomb threat

A new wave of bomb threats against Jewish Community Centers across the country, and this time it's hitting close to home.

Two JCC's in Central Pa were evacuated on Monday morning, one in Harrisburg and the other in York.

Both received bomb threats.

Police searched both buildings but came up empty handed.

It's shameful whoever is perpetrating this it's disruptive to the Jewish community and interfaith community and services everyone in the community and we hope this perpetrator is arrested soon because it is creating a lot of unnecessary stress in people in all of the community's.

Both local JCC's say they're working closely with the FBI and the Governor's office to investigate.

Governor Wolf released this statement:

Any anti-Semitic act or act of intimidation aimed at Jewish institutions and people in Pennsylvania is truly reprehensible and we must find those responsible and hold them accountable. This is not who we are as Americans or Pennsylvanians. We will not take these threats and acts lightly and I have asked the Pennsylvania State Police and Office of Homeland Security to offer their full resources towards protecting these institutions and finding those responsible.

There were at least 22 threats to Jewish Community Centers, synagogues and schools on the East Coast yesterday.

The Jewish Community Center Association says since the beginning of the year there have been 90 such incidents in 30 states and one Canadian province.

The FBI is also investigating the toppling of scores of headstones at a Jewish Cemetery in Philadelphia.

Jews, Christians and Muslims are all speaking out in solidarity against the vandalism.

This could be our cemetery, this could be our grandparents.
We as black clergy stand against any acts of violence or acts of hatred.

On Monday White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said that President Trump continues to condemn these and any other form of anti-semitic and hateful acts in the strongest terms.
