Bishop McDevitt High School theater combines education with art

When Bishop McDevitt High School announced the spring musical would be South Pacific, the Crusader Players saw an opportunity to combine education with art.

Using the classic 1949 musical's setting as a launching point they turned the production into a living history lesson.

South Pacific is a 1949 musical that follows an American nurse stationed on a South Pacific island during World War II.

SUnday members of the cast met with local World War II veterans Anthony Spagnolo and Bill Allweim to discuss their involvement on the war front.

The musical will run on April 7-8 at 7:30 p.m. and on April 9 at 3 p.m. at the school's Carmen Finestra Auditorium.

As a way of saying thank you to all veterans, the Crusader Players will donate a portion of the proceeds from their production to Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors, Inc.
