Abortion restriction bill moves forward, Wolf says he will veto it
Republicans are advancing a ban on abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy.
The state House Health Committee yesterday passed the legislation that would also restrict how most second-trimester abortions are performed.
Pennsylvania law currently allows abortions during the first 24 weeks of pregnancy.
This bill would allow exceptions when the mother's life is at risk, or if she could suffer a serious, permanent injury.
It does not provide exceptions for rape or incest.
Democrat Governor Tom Wolf is against the bill.
He tweeted yesterday "I will veto this attack on a woman's right to choose if it reaches my desk. #stopPAbans."
