One person in critical condition after multi-car crash on I-81
DICKINSON TOWNSHIP, PA —
UPDATE: One person is in critical condition after a multi-car crash on Interstate 81 North in Cumberland County.
The crash happened at 12:04pm near milemarker 39 in Dickinson Township, but had traffic backed up for miles until it opened at 4 p.m.
Officials originally reported the crash as involving 8 cars, but further investigation showed only four cars were involved, two of the vehicles being tractor trailers, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
A second person was also injured in the crash. They suffered minor injuries, according to police.
I-81 Northbound has reopened after an 8-vehicle crash shut down the northbound lane earlier today.
One lane of Interstate 81 South was closed due to the incident.
The crash is at milemarker 39.5 near Dickinson Township. Officials are directing drivers to get off at Exit 37. Detours are in place and drivers are advised to take Route 11 and Route 464. Officials tell CBS21 News Route 11 and Route 465 are experiencing traffic back-ups, as well, and they expect it to get worse as school lets out and buses hit the roads.
One injury has been reported and the person has been taken to the hospital.
