Bill Gates donates $50 million to Alzheimer's and dementia research
Bill Gates announced on Monday he's putting his money to a good cause, finding a cure for Alzheimer's.
The billionaire philanthropist who created Microsoft invested $50 million of his own money into the dementia discovery fund.
The Alzheimer's Association says getting attention from a name like Bill Gates goes a long way and so does his donation.
"I'm sure that they'll disperse it to researchers that come and show them their proposals and what they're looking for, maybe some new innovative things that no one has thought before," said Jeremy Bland, Alzheimer's Association. "That's really the exciting part. His is going to bring new researchers out of the woodwork and new people coming with different ideas."
There are more than 400,000 people suffering with Alzheimer's or dementia in Pennsylvania right now.
