J.C. Penney to close as many as 140 stores
Troubled retailer J.C. Penney announced it will close up to 140 stores in the months ahead, along with two distribution centers.
It's unclear exactly how many jobs will be lost by the closures but J.C. Penney said it would also offer early retirement to six-thousand of its full-time workers.
There are J.C. Penney stores in Harrisburg, Camp Hill, Lancaster and Carlisle.
There's no word yet if any local stores will be included in the closings.
The chain is expected to reveal which stores will close next month.
The move is the latest example of retailers cutting back on brick-and-mortar stores. Macy's and Sears already announced plans to close dozens of locations. The Limited and Sports Authority have shut down all of its remaining stores.
