How prioritizing U.S. workers, goods with executive order could boost local economy

President Trump signed a new executive order with a focus to keep manufacturing jobs in the states.

Plouse Manufacturing in Highspire transforms metal into a part that eventually becomes a product to sell.

David Smith, a Sales Manager with the company, said,"It all drives the economy and the more we make here the more people, the good jobs that they have".

Smith is hopeful with the new order signed by the President.

Manufacturing here in Pennsylvania adds $82-billion dollars of value year over year.

According to Smith," Manufacturing is the engine that drives our economy".

David Taylor with the Pennsylvania Manufacturing Association says an executive order like this is way overdue.

"Its structured to maximize the benefit to the domestic economy from purchasing by the federal government taking special note of those industries that have been victimized from foreign dumping".

Foreign dumping is when a competitor from overseas is able to sell a good below the cost of production. The Trump Administration now intervening. Taylor is optimistic when it comes to future of Pennsylvania's economy.
