Women at Work | Tonya Lovelace, CEO of the Women of Color Network
Tonya Lovelace moved to Harrisburg in 2004, bringing with her an organization that's changing the lives of women across the U.S.
The organization aims to give a voice to women who may feel they have none, by bringing awareness to the rates of violence occurring in communities of color.
Black women are dying at twice the rate of white women, something Tonya is experiencing personally.
She herself was a victim of domestic violence.
Fortunately, Tonya called for assistance and as able to get to a safe place and remove the violence from her home.
This year is her 15th year with the Women of Color Network, and she's been able to build the budget from $150,000 to an astounding $1.3 million.
