21 Days of Caring | Local girl battles blood cancer, receives aid from LLS chapter
On the third day of our 21 Days of Caring campaign - we turned to the story of a girl battling cancer here in Central PA.
She was diagnosed with a type of blood cancer on her last day of second grade - at just eight years old.
Ashlyn Brysiak is at the tail end of her 2.5 years of treatment.
Hundred of adults and children, like Ashlyn, are the beneficiaries of over $1 million in financial aid from the Central PA Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS).
Ashyln said, "I would wake up and I would just lay in bed all day, or, I just couldn't do anything. When I first got sick, I could barely walk up and down the steps. Just trying to be normal was the hardest."
LLS is hosting a wine tasting fundraising event on Friday, December 1 called "Toast for a Cure."
