The holidays are all about giving back. In the spirit of the season, CBS 21 is bringing you 21 Days of Caring. Each day we’re showing support for local organizations that are helping make the holidays magical. Help us give back this season by joining us for 21 Days of Caring!


November 27th:

Event/Organization: All You Can Holiday Donation Drive

The All You Can Holiday Donation Drive provides gifts to kids that need them. Additionally, the drive offers food, furniture, and electronics to families in need. These donations offer a great deal of relief, and help, to families that are struggling to get through the holidays. The day of the drive includes games, music, and holiday food.

November 28th:

Event/Organization: #Giving Tuesday

#GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Occurring this year on November 28, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the US) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.

November 30th:

Event/Organization: Owen’s Foundation and Drive Safe

December 1st:

Event/Organization: Harrisburg Area YWCA

Temple students will be helping collect donations for the YWCA Sock & Mitten Tree.

December 2nd:

Event/Organization: Gingerbread Friends Program

Place: East Shore Area Library

Join Ashley Honea as she reads the Gingerbread Man picture book and decorates cookies with kids.

December 5th:

Event/Organization: Humane Society of Harrisburg Area

CBS 21 volunteers will help with dishes and organizing donations.

December 6th:

Event/Organization: The Salvation Army Harrisburg

Time: 10:00AM-2:30PM

Place: Karns in Lemoyne (1200 Market Street, Lemoyne)

Steve and Erika will be participating in Red Kettle Bell Ringing.

December 7th:

Event/Organization: Caitlin’s Smiles Holiday Open House

Time: 5:00PM-8:00PM

Place: Caitlin’s Smiles (3303 N 6th St)

Come join us for an evening of assembling craft kits for our Bags of Smiles! Please bring a box of ziplock baggies (snack/sandwich). Caitlin’s Smiles provides patients with "Bag of Smiles" packages through our Creative Arts Care Program. These packages promote activities such as drawing, creative writing and sculpting. Hospital staff distributes the packages while the children are in the hospital.

December 9th:

Event/Organization: Christmas at Italian Lake

Time: December 9th 11:00AM to 7:00PM & December 10th 12:00PM to 5:00PM

Place: Italian Lake, Harrisburg

Details: Tom will emcee the Christmas Tree Lighting at 5pm on Saturday. CBS 21 will also run the photo booth at Santa’s Grotto all day on Saturday. Admission to the event is free, but tickets to activities benefit the Bethesda Mission.

December 11th:

Event/Organization: Meals on Wheels

December 13th:

Event/Organization: Blood Drive with Central Pennsyllvania Blood Bank

Place: PinnacleHealth (Dillsburg)



December 15th:

Event/Organization: Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Pennsylvania

December 18th:

Event/Organization: Meals on Wheels

December 19th:

Event/Organization: Central PA Food Bank

December 21st:

Event/Organization: Power Packs Project

December 23rd:

Event/Organization: All You Can Holiday Donation Drive

Place: Capitol Academy (1414 N. Cameron St)

December 25th:

  • A look at what CBS 21 has done over our 21 Days of Caring program. Encourage people to volunteer in their neighborhoods and give one more push to all of the organizations we partnered with. Would be great if we can get a package from news.
